Google Pixel Watch 3's FCC listing confirms UWB connectivity and new size variant ↺
Even as Google prepares for its August 13 launch event, the upcoming Pixel Watch 3 has appeared on an FCC listing after clearing RF (radio frequency) testing for all wireless functionality. Four devices have been listed, lending credence to prior rumours of an XL-sized Pixel Watch.
One rumour that has been positively confirmed is the addition of UWB (ultra-wideband) support in all four models. This will replace Bluetooth for the Watch Unlock feature, which allows a Pixel phone to be unlocked when close to a Pixel Watch, and could potentially be used for the Find My Device, as seen on the Apple Watch Series 9.
All four models will now also support 5 GHz Wi-Fi (likely Wi-Fi 6 or up), instead of the single-band 2.4 GHz support in the Pixel Watch 2, and two of them also connect to LTE networks.
It’s been reported that the Pixel Watch 3 will be launching in two sizes – the existing 41 mm and, most likely, a new 44 mm one. Supporting that is the fact that two of the four models were tested with eight different bands, while the other two were tested with five types. The Pixel Watch 3 will launch alongside the new Pixel 9 smartphone series.
