Garmin Fenix 8 leaks with AMOLED display upgrade planned
Fitness Tracker Test (FTT) has discovered new information relating to the Fenix E and Fenix 8, both successors to the Fenix 7 series. To recap, the pair were first seen online courtesy of a Finnish retailer. While Multitronic did not reveal what either smartwatch looked like, it did outline a few specifications.
Additionally, the same smartwatches have appeared on another authorised Garmin dealer's website, this time in Iceland. On the one hand, the new listing reiterates that a 43 mm sizing will replace the Fenix 7s, which has a 42 mm case size. With that being said, it appears that Garmin will release a Fenix 7s successor as simply the Fenix 8, dropping the 's' branding altogether.
On the other hand, it seems that AMOLED displays are also headed to the Fenix series, mirroring equivalent changes made to the Forerunner series, starting with the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965 (curr. $584.99 on Amazon). Thus, the likes of FTT currently believe that the Fenix E will arrive with Memory In Pixel (MIP) displays, as direct successors to the Fenix 7 series of sorts. As it stands, Garmin is expected to officially unveil the Fenix E and Fenix 8 series in late August or early September. Please see our earlier article about the pair for more leaked specifications and possible Eurozone launch prices.
