Samsung has now introduced its first Galaxy Watch with 'Ultra' branding. Effectively a Galaxy Watch5 Pro successor, the Galaxy Watch Ultra has a larger display than the Galaxy Watch7, as well as a bigger battery and 10 ATM water resistance.

Samsung has finally introduced a successor to the Galaxy Watch5 Pro (curr. $149.99 - renewed on Amazon), albeit without using 'Pro' branding. Instead, the company has harmonised the Galaxy Watch series with its other flagship product lines, such as its Galaxy S smartphones. Hence, the Galaxy Watch series now consists of the Galaxy Watch7 and the Galaxy Watch FE that Samsung introduced last month, along with the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

As expected, the Galaxy Watch Ultra sports the same new BioActive sensor and Exynos W1000 chipset as the 40 mm and 44 mm versions of the Galaxy Watch7. Additionally, Samsung complements the new 5-core and 3 nm chipset with 32 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and a 590 mAh (typical capacity) battery. Furthermore, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra matches the Galaxy Watch7 pair with IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certifications, Samsung advertises the former as being 10 ATM (ISO 22810) compliant.

Even so, Samsung stresses that the Galaxy Watch Ultra is unsuitable to be worn when undertaking high speed water activities like water skiing. Meanwhile, the smartwatch is available exclusively with an LTE modem and a 47 mm case size. For reference, the Galaxy Watch Ultra also weighs 60.5 g on account of its titanium housing and sapphire glass display, which measures 1.5-inches across.

Incidentally, the large AMOLED display outputs natively at 480 x 480 pixels and has a flat finish, just like the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is available to pre-order today for €699 with a complimentary trial band worth €79. However, orders will not begin shipping until July 24.
