The Asus TUF Gaming series has always provided solid value to gamers, and a recent Best Buy deal on the 16-inch Asus TUF Gaming A16 just solidifies that value proposition even further, bringing a laptop that retails for $1,099.99 down to just $679.99.

The Asus TUF Gaming A16 in question (see our review video below) is equipped with an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, which falls somewhere between the Intel Core i7-12650H and the now-ubiquitous Ryzen 7 8840U when it comes to raw CPU horsepower. GPU duties in the TUF A16 are handled by a Radeon RX 7700S GPU, which traded blows with the Nvidia RTX 4060 in our testing.

Along with the solid mid-range CPU and GPU performance, the TUF A16 comes with 16 GB of upgradeable DDR5 4800 RAM and a 512 PCIe SSD. On the display front, the Asus TUF Gaming A16 packs a 16-inch, 16:10, 165 Hz 1920×1200 display which performed admirably in our review. Although brightness was only average, topping out at 308 cd/m², it managed 97.8% coverage of the sRGB colour space and a respectable dE of just 2.98, potentially even making it suitable for some entry-level photo editing or video work.

The laptop also connects the display through a MUX switch, making it easy to switch between hybrid graphics and dedicated GPU modes. There is also full support for AMD FreeSync for tear-free gaming when performance dips occur.

In our review, we also found the Asus TUF Gaming A16 to manage its clock speeds well and deliver above average performance for the hardware. Most impressive, however, was the battery life, with the TUF Gaming A16 lasting as long as 20 hours in our idle battery test and just over 12 hours in our web surfing test.

The Asus TUF Gaming A16 is discounted to $679.99 at Best Buy for a very limited deal slated to end on Wednesday, July 17.
