First Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 image arrives with leaked specifications before Honor Magic V3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 releases
Rumours about Xiaomi's plans for a MIX Fold 3 successor have been circulating for months now. Often linked to the alleged MIX Flip, the MIX Fold 4 is expected to be another Chinese exclusive, just like all MIX devices from the MIX 4 onwards. Nonetheless, leaker Evan Blass has shared a first look at the device on his X (formerly Twitter) account, which we have reproduced below.
It is worth noting that the leaker emphasises that the image may not reflect retail MIX Fold 4 units. Thus, there could be some changes between what is shown here and the device's final form. Either way, it appears that Xiaomi intends to build on the MIX Fold 3 by expanding its successor's camera housing, which takes up roughly a third of its back panel. Nonetheless, the MIX Fold 4 has four rear-facing cameras, just like its predecessor.
Supposedly, a 50 MP sensor supported by a Leica Summilux lens will serve as the device's primary camera. For reference, this matches the MIX Fold 3's primary camera, which Xiaomi complements with a trio of 10 MP rear-facing cameras, plus a pair of 20 MP selfie cameras. With that being said, the changes between the MIX Fold 2 and MIX Fold 3 suggest that Xiaomi will equip the MIX Fold 4 with an improved primary camera.
In a similar vein, Blass asserts that the MIX Fold 4 will arrive sporting a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a battery capacity that exceeds 5,000 mAh, which would both be upgrades over the MIX Fold 3. Likewise, the MIX Fold 4 is said to have been certified to IPX8, again surpassing its predecessor but only matching contemporaries like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 (curr. $1,399.99 on Amazon). Finally, Blass claims that the MIX Fold 4 will be under 10 mm thick, which could potentially rival the Magic Vs3 and V3 that Honor will launch later this month.
