Market-first tri-folding tablet allegedly nears mass production
The launch of the world's first commercially-viable tri-folding tablet has been predicted time and again only never to emerge - however, such an event is still on the cards
The upcoming new type of foldable device, believed to be capable of rocking an even larger main display due to its extra hinge, is finally about to enter mass production, according to prolific leaker Digital Chat Station. The name of the company apparently ready to make this breakthrough was not given, however.
There may be a few plausible candidates out there, Huawei and TCL included - then again, Samsung has been linked to the leap into tri-fold territory at least as equally as often.
Presuming it is the latter, the inaugural "Galaxy Z Fold Tab" (or, possibly, simply Galaxy Z Tab) is now said to have been developed with a ~10-inch display that can switch between smartphone and full tablet modes depending on how it is folded.
It is said to debut as a top-spec'd device with a markedly crease-resistant screen - and also thicker than a 'conventional' folding smartphone and even more expensive than a device such as the Galaxy Z Fold6 that currently starts for $1,749 on Amazon.
Digital Chat Station also now hints that the upcoming tri-fold is ahead of its maker's next candy-bar "business flagship" (the Galaxy S25 Ultra?), thereby suggesting that it might be available for previews at least in 2025.
