Disappointing Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra battery capacity and charging wattage revealed by new leak
So far, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been tipped to arrive with a slimmer with a flatter display. Depending on who you ask, it might or might not get camera upgrades. If a sketchy rumour is accurate, it could even go all-in on the 3 nm Exynos 2500 instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Unfortunately, you may have to abandon all hopes of an upgraded battery.
Noted leaker Ice Universe says the Galaxy S25 Ultra will come with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 45 W fast charging: unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21 and even the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Essentially, five generations of Samsung flagship smartphones are relegated to the same battery capacity with only a marginal increase in charging wattage.
While fitting a higher capacity battery into a thinner chassis is undoubtedly tricky, Realme managed to pull it off with the Realme GT 6 and even threw in 120 W fast charging for good measure. There's no reason for a company with Samsung's resources to skimp on such an essential feature, more so on the Galaxy S25 Ultra which will almost certainly cost upward of $1,200.
