Redmi Pad Pro 5G: Xiaomi releases new 120 Hz tablet globally with launch discounts plus GPS, 5G and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity upgrades
The Redmi Pad Pro 5G has now reached Europe and the UK, having been presented last week in India alongside the Redmi Pad Pro 4G. For reference, the existence of the Redmi Pad Pro 5G outside China has been known for months. Xiaomi has only been selling the regular Redmi Pad Pro (curr. $242.50 on Amazon) globally until recently, though.
In summary, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G contains three major changes from the original Redmi Pad Pro that Xiaomi released in May. Ultimately, the two tablets should offer the same fundamental experience thanks to the shared presence of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2. flash storage and a 10,000 mAh battery.
Moreover, the newer Redmi Pad Pro retains the original model's IPS display, which spans 12.1-inches across while delivering a 1600p (2,560 x 1,600) resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate and 600 nits (HBM) peak brightness. However, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G not only adds 5G SA and NSA connectivity, but also BDS B1, Galileo E1, GLONASS G1 and GPS L1 positioning services. Added to that, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G adopts Wi-Fi 6E connectivity in Europe and the UK, an improvement over Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for the non-cellular model.
Currently, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G starts at £279 in the UK and as low as €329.90 in the Eurozone. Please note that prices vary across France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, as do launch deals and discounts. On top of that, although Xiaomi sells the tablet in some countries with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage configurations, other countries have only been offered 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Principally though, it seems that pre-orders across the UK and Europe will receive at least a complimentary Redmi Pad Pro Cover, with the Redmi Buds 5 or Redmi Smart Pen also provided as secondary accessories.
