Xiaomi officially announces new Redmi Pad SE refresh alongside Redmi Pad Pro 5G
Xiaomi has now fully unveiled the Redmi Pad SE 4G, which is more than just a 4G variant of the Redmi Pad SE (curr. $152 on Amazon) that debuted almost a year ago. As expected, the Redmi Pad SE 4G is also smaller than the existing Redmi Pad SE thanks to an 8.7-inch display.
Specifically, the new tablet measures 211.6 x 125.5 x 8.8 mm and weighs 370 g, compared to 255.5 x 167.1 x 7.4 mm and 478 g for the Redmi Pad SE. Moreover, the new IPS panel outputs at just 1,340 x 800 pixels, which makes for a less pixel-dense display than the Redmi Pad SE (179 PPI vs 209 PPI). Nonetheless, the Redmi Pad SE 4G maintains a 90 Hz refresh rate while upping peak brightness from 400 nits to 600 nits.

The inclusion of a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset is a downgrade though, as is the decision to offer just 4 GB of RAM. Likewise, Xiaomi has paired the tablet's 6,650 mAh battery with 10 W wired charging capabilities. The Redmi Pad SE 4G will start life in India on August 2, where it will cost INR 10,999 (~$131) with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
Incidentally, Xiaomi has also released the Redmi Pad Pro 5G outside China for the first time. Also available on August 2, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G comes in 128 GB and 256 GB of storage variants for INR 24,999 (~$298) and INR 26,999 (~$322), both with 8 GB of RAM. Please note that although Xiaomi lists the Redmi Pad Pro 5G as supporting Wi-Fi 6E connectivity globally, this difference from the regular Redmi Pad Pro is not reflected on the former's Indian product page.
