Redmi Pad Pro 5G: Xiaomi unveils new Redmi Pad Pro model globally with improved Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity
It seems that Xiaomi will soon expand its global tablet offering with a model that it already sells in China. For context, the company's CEO announced in late May that the 'Redmi Pad Pro also comes in 5G'. However, Lei Jun elected against confirming when the Redmi Pad Pro spin-off would be available in any market, let alone globally.
Shortly afterwards, Xiaomi released the Redmi Pad Pro 5G in China for CNY 1,999 (~$275), a CNY 500 (~$69) surcharge over the regular Redmi Pad Pro (curr. $279.99 on Amazon). Incidentally, Xiaomi also offers the POCO Pad globally as another Redmi Pad Pro variant. Now, the company has listed the former on its global website, which is a sure sign that it will be sold outside China soon. Also, it seems that Xiaomi has not made any hardware changes from the tablet's Chinese release.
Consequently, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G features a 12.1-inch and 2,560 x 1,600-pixel display that offers a 120 Hz refresh rate. On top of that, the tablet includes a 10,000 mAh battery that supports 33 W wired chraging and a pair of 8 MP cameras. Furthermore, the new variant not only adds 5G connectivity but also a built-in GPS module. Incidentally, while the Redmi Pad Pro 5G uses the same Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset as its non-cellular sibling, it leverages Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and not Wi-Fi 6 connectivity like the regular Redmi Pad Pro. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not confirmed global pricing yet, although we imagine it will do so soon.
