Samsung announces Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 release date as retailers reveal key device specifications

Last week, Roland Quandt reported that Samsung's next Galaxy A series smartphones would be available in Europe on March 11. Given the volume of leaks that occurred in the last few weeks, it should come as no surprise to learn that these smartphones are the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55, the predecessors of which launched simultaneously almost a year ago. Now, Samsung has confirmed that this rumoured date will apply to the pair's global release.

As far as we can tell, only the company's Indian subdivision has revealed the launch date for either device. Nonetheless, Samsung India has explicitly mentioned the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 on its teaser website, although it has not outlined any specifications yet. Instead, it has hinted that the pair will feature Key Island button designs, as well as triple rear-facing cameras.

Meanwhile, European retailers have already begun listing the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 on their websites. As expected, Samsung will distinguish the pair in a few areas, including their chipsets. Specifically, the Galaxy A35 will arrive on March 11 with an Exynos 1380 chipset, plus a 6.6-inch display, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 50 MP primary camera complemented by 8 MP ultra-wide-angle, 2 MP macro and 13 MP front-facing sensors. By contrast, the Galaxy A55 will feature the new Exynos 1480 and a 0.01-inch smaller display, along with 50 MP primary, 12 MP ultra-wide-angle, 5 MP macro and 32 MP front-facing cameras. Unfortunately, neither retailer has shared launch pricing for either handset, yet.
