Reliable Microsoft leaker WalkingCat (@_h0x0d_) appears to have disclosed the date of the company's next Surface Event. Typically, Microsoft refreshes its Surface product stack every autumn. However, it only did so to a limited extent last year September with the Surface Laptop Go 3 and Surface Laptop Studio 2 launched alongside the business-first Surface Go 4.
In other words, Microsoft left the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro series untouched. Thus, both currently remain adrift on 12th Gen Intel Core processors, as well as the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3-derived Microsoft SQ3 in the Surface Pro 9 5G. Unsurprisingly, Microsoft will skip 13th Gen Intel Core processors entirely, which are frequently referred to by their 'Raptor Lake' codename.
Allegedly, Microsoft will update the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro lines to 'newer Intel 14th-gen chips', possibly on March 21, according to Walking Cat. For now, it is unclear whether this represents Raptor Lake Refresh parts like the Core 7 150U or their Meteor Lake counterparts such as the Core Ultra 7 155U. Either way, both are expected to arrive with 'in-market designs' for business customers, possibly as the Surface Laptop 5 Plus and Surface Pro 9 Plus.
Please note that Windows Central has settled on this naming because of the Surface Pro 7 Plus rather than as a result of leaked information. Additionally, the website adds that both models will feature anti-reflective displays, along with an NFC reader of some sort and Windows Studio Effects integrations. While both are rumoured to be business devices, Microsoft tends to sell its 'for business' devices to consumers too.
