Users blame One UI update for causing green line issue on several Samsung Galaxy phones
Samsung Galaxy users have been complaining about the green line issue for a long time now. However, the company has yet to make a solid effort to fix the display problem. As for the latest round of reports, they are coming from users who have updated their smartphones to the latest One UI update.
According to these reports, a thin green line appeared on their phone displays right after or during updating to the latest available One UI version. Interestingly, these complaints aren't about one or two Samsung Galaxy phones. It seems widespread, with reports coming from M52 5G, M21, A73, Z Flip 3, S21 series, and S22 series (S22 Ultra renewed curr. $479.95 on Amazon).
This problem isn't just limited to Samsung Galaxy phones either. Devices from Xiaomi, Motorola, OnePlus, and Vivo have also faced the same display problem. As a matter of fact, the problem has become so widespread that users have started to record their phones during a software update. With this, they hope to prove that the line didn't appear due to physical damage done to their smartphones.
One notable thing about the green line issue is that it is mostly prevalent on OLED screens. That makes it a major problem as this type of display is expensive to replace. Some OLED display replacements can even cost half the phone's price. Also, even though we've had a lot of complaints about the issue, it's hard to pinpoint what's actually causing it. This time, it could be due to a panel defect that's getting worse for the phone heating up during the software update.
Screens can also get green lines for a problem within the display cable or for software glitches. No matter the case, Samsung should look into the matter, especially considering the number of reports that came up after the latest One UI update rollout.
This is in unacceptable Samsung.

I still do this routine every time I update my Samsung phones.

All because of the risk of my Galaxy S23 Ultra/Galaxy S24 Ultra turning into a light saber after the update. ???? pic.twitter.com/MO64INLezR
