While the Exynos 2400 is expected to deliver a record-breaking performance uplift over its predecessor, Samsung's proverbial ace in the hole is the Exynos 2500 or Dream Team chip. A previous leak said it would be a nine-core behemoth with four Cortex-X cores. New information obtained by Twitter leaker @OreXDA says otherwise.
The Dream Team chip is now rumoured to feature four Cortex X5 cores in a 1+3 configuration. The "prime" core will be clocked between 3.3 and 3.5 GHz, while the remaining three will operate between 2.3 and 2.5 GHz. In addition, two Cortex-A730 and four Cortex-A520 (both tentative) will populate the remaining cluster, resulting in a 1+3+2+4 configuration.
Given it is two years away from launch, not much is known about the Dream Team chip/Exynos 2500 other than the fact that it could be manufactured on Samsung's 3GAP node. AMD and Samsung's renewed agreement implies it will ship with an RDNA GPU. It'll be interesting to see how the chip stands against the Nuvia-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is reportedly up to 40% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
