Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra tipped to gain substantial camera feature boost with next major software upgrade
The Galaxy S24 line of flagship Android smartphones got a new software update only about 2 months ago, yet has another one in the works courtesy of its developer Samsung, according to prolific leaker Ice Universe. However, while the former version of One UI was still called 6.1, the latter will be 6.1.1.
That extra digit confers major upgrade status on the firmware, as Ice Universe points out in a new tweet. Furthermore, the tipster claims to have ascertained a baseband version for the new update, although it is only for the S24 Ultra rather than the S24 or S24+.
It is referred to as "S928BBU2AXEB/S928BOXMAXEB/S928BBU2AXEB", which might be a variant for the European version of the smartphone that varies based on service provider. Once it appears on S24 Ultra screens, it is backed to impart new camera features on the smartphone - a device already capable of 50MP periscope zoom shots, AI-powered slow-mo footage and Expert RAW photography.
Then again, as Ice Universe asserts, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra fans might have to wait "for quite a long time" for One UI 6.1.1 and its potentially exciting updates, as it is still in testing at the time of writing.
In the meantime, the S24 Ultra now starts at $1,039 with 256GB of internal storage in Titanium Black on Amazon.
