Acer has presented a 'Gaming Edition' Chromebook, having introduced the Chromebook 516 GE (curr. $529.98 on Amazon) towards the end of 2022. This time, it is the turn of the Chromebook Plus 516 GE, which Acer hopes will provide an immersive gaming experience thanks to its 16-inch display, quad speakers and RGB-backlit keyboard. For reference, the large IPS panel outputs at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 350 nits peak brightness.
Additionally, Acer equips the Chromebook Plus 516 GE with an Intel Core 7 150U processor, an upgrade over the Alder Lake-P alternatives that powered the Chromebook 516 GE. As such, the Chromebook Plus 516 GE features an Iris Xe Graphics G7, an iGPU that is too underpowered to handle modern triple-A gaming. Instead, Acer's 'Gaming Edition' extends to game streaming aided by Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
