HP Fortis 11-inch G10 Chromebook launches as resilient new work PC
HP's 2024 Fortis-series debut continues with the 11-inch G10 Chromebook, a PC that, unlike its G9 Q predecessor, switches from the Snapdragon 7c platform to Intel in 2024. The OEM doesn't say exactly which N-series processors it runs at present, although they are rated to handle optional 4G/LTE as well as Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and even an optional WWAN.
The G10 purports to stand out from its "productivity"-focused crowd with Galactic Blue or Flint Gray finishes for a chassis that has undergone the HP Total Test Process that apparently covers its reaction to stages such as a "76cm drop onto concrete", "200-revolution tumble testing" and a "122cm drop onto plywood" as well as its "wipe-ability" and power port integrity.
Like its fellow new Fortis siblings, the G10 has also passed 19 MIL-STD 810 tests. It also upholds its workhorse Chrome OS PC credentials by shipping with an assured 19 years of "automatic updates" (at the time of writing) as well as a full-size island-style Chrome keyboard with an HP Full-Skirted Anchored design for spill, damage and dust resistance.
It can be configured with matte 250-nit LED HD displays that are either 45% NTSC SVA or 50% NTSC UWVA panels, the latter of which can be either touch- or non-touch-responsive.
The G10 is "coming soon" to HP's online store starting at an estimated $309 for SKUs with 4 to 16GB of LPDDR5-4800 RAM; 32GB to 64GB eMMC or 128GB UFS storage and a 45W adapter for 1 of its dual 3.2 PD/DisplayPort 1.2 USB-C ports, which join a 1.4 HDMI port and a 2.5mm headphone/mic jack.
