OnePlus Open possible launch date and screen dimensions leak out

  The OPPO Find N2 launched with a custom ~18:9 aspect-ratio for its cover screen that earned it praise for its usability (and pocketability) compared to that of rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. Now, it seems that the OEM will walk the use of that distinctive shape back with its successor - however, the news is not necessarily bad for Find N3 industrial design.

The famous tipster Ice Universe claims to have run across "Unbreakable Membrane" screen protectors that do indeed seem to hint at more of a 20:9 aspect-ratio for the device when closed. Nevertheless, the "N3" is also thought to maintain generous screen proportions (with a punch-hole selfie camera per display) without being too thin when folded.

This might be good news for OPPO Find N-series fans - as it might for those who like the idea of the OnePlus Open, its long-anticipated re-brand for international markets. The strongest hint at its imminent launch has now dropped, as October 4, 2023 is the closing date for the company's latest Lab event.

OnePlus' by-now traditional community-sourced review process has yet to confirm that it has pivoted to the  Open outright, although its new teaser image and use of the phrase "best product yet" might tell a different story. Given that this campaign is open to aspiring winners "from Europe, India, or North America", it seems the foldable just might be available in all 3 regions on its release.
