Possible Google Pixel Fold 2 references discovered in Pixel Buds app code

Additionally, the Pixel Buds app now contains links to 'Comet', a previously unknown codename. While the timing of its inclusion implies that Comet is another Pixel 8 series member, 9to5Google believes otherwise. For reference, there is evidence that Google is developing the Pixel 8a internally as 'Akita' and not Comet. To that end, 9to5Google theorises that Google settled on dog codenames for the Pixel 8 series, ruling out Comet as a fourth member.

Similarly, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro's codenames are linked to reptiles (Komodo/Caiman); the internal name for the Pixel 9a is not known yet. Thus, Comet appears to be part of a separate family altogether. Instead, Google has listed Comet under the same category as the Pixel Fold, which is only a few months old. Currently, there are no concrete details about what device Comet could be, such as a second-generation Pixel Fold, a clamshell foldable or a development board.
