OnePlus Open: Oppo Find N3 global launch confirmed for October 19 as YouTuber compares new foldable against Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5
OnePlus remains quiet about the release date of its first foldable, despite the continued publication of teasers on its social media accounts. For reference, OnePlus Open marketing renders and alleged US pricing leaked yesterday, which we covered separately. In the same leak, Roland Quandt disclosed that OnePlus plans to unveil the Open on October 19, a date that coincides with the arrival of the Oppo Find N3.
Incidentally, Oppo is referring to the latter as a 'global launch', despite only announcing this on Chinese social media. Thus, we expect OnePlus to share an equivalent confirmation shortly, perhaps within the next 24 hours or so. Regardless, Oppo has provided YouTuber Jagat Review with an Oppo Find N3 prototype, which he compared against Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold5. In the same vein as Unbox Therapy's video of the OnePlus Open, Jagat Review has hidden the camera housing of the Oppo Find N3.
Nonetheless, it is apparent that the two prototypes are based on identical designs, which are shorter but wider than the Galaxy Z Fold5. Additionally, it appears that the Oppo Find N3 and OnePlus Open are slightly thinner than Samsung's equivalent, with Jagat Review adding that they are lighter as well. Moreover, the Oppo Find N3 has a shallower display crease than the Galaxy Z Fold5. While both are noticeable in studio lighting, Find N2 and other devices like the Huawei Mate X3 have almost invisible creases in general use, particularly with the display switch on.
