According to the latest information from MS PowerUser, Samsung is planning to release a new variant of the Galaxy Z Flip5 (just under US$1120 on Amazon), which will be marketed as the Retro Edition. As the image embedded below shows, this variant will have a matte aluminum frame instead of the glossy finish of the regular variant, as well as a dark blue back.
It remains unclear whether Samsung will also adjust the software and, for example, include retro sound effects or classic wallpapers. The Retro Edition is scheduled to come onto the market in the next few weeks, so it shouldn't be long before Samsung officially confirms all the details about its next foldable.
Meanwhile, in a press release in Germany, Samsung has announced a series of "new" features that the smartphone's 3.4-inch second display now supports. Samsung is not referring to a new software update here, but rather to innovations that have been introduced through several updates since its launch.
Samsung highlights that there are now more than 13 widgets to choose from, while the secondary display can be used as a viewfinder to take selfies with the dual camera. A small on-screen keyboard allows you to respond directly to messages. The Samsung Wallet allows contactless payments without opening the smartphone.
