Samsung is reportedly working towards expanding its Galaxy Z series. Currently, the company only offers single Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models, which are now onto their fifth generation. While Samsung has not experienced too much competition outside China in previous years, it has been undercut in 2023 globally by a few competitors, including OnePlus with the Open and Motorola with the Razr 40, which is available as the Razr Gen 3 in North America.
According to Trendforce, both Samsung and Huawei 'plan to introduce more competitively priced foldable phones', starting in 2024. Unfortunately, the website has not provided any other details at this stage, including whether this 'competitively priced' foldable will be a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Z Flip model. However, @Tech_Reve has shed more light on the matter by claiming that Samsung's price target for this 'mid-range foldable' will be between US$400 and US$500.
At the time of writing, the Galaxy Z Fold5 starts at US$1,799.99 in the US, US$800 more than the Galaxy Z Flip5. In short, it would seem unlikely for Samsung to undercut the next Galaxy Z Flip model with a less expensive Galaxy Z Fold retailing for between US$400 and US$500. Thus, it would appear that both Trendforce and @Tech_Reve are referring to a Galaxy Z Flip6 FE of sorts, with Samsung tending to apply 'FE' branding to cheaper flagship series models like the Galaxy S23 FE. Presumably, Samsung will introduce a mid-range foldable alongside its flagship counterparts, which are anticipated for a late summer 2024 release.
