Possible Xiaomi Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro images surface online as executive teases late 2023 release
The first alleged shots of Redmi K70 handsets have surfaced online, less than a month after Xiaomi first hinted at the series' release. For context, Xiaomi outlined in late October that the Redmi K70 series would feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a chipset that also underpins the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. However, not all Redmi K70 models are expected to utilise Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset.
Instead, this accolade may be exclusive to the Redmi K70 Pro and Redmi K70 Pro Plus, which may well share the same design as the smartphone pictured below. For now, it is unclear which model is being shown, including the cheaper Redmi K70. Either way, it appears that the next Redmi K smartphones will retain a triple rear-facing camera set-up like their Redmi K60 predecessors.
However, Xiaomi has arranged their camera housings horizontally, a first for the Redmi K series since its inception. In short, the full-width design is more of a cross between the Xiaomi 14 series and recent cheaper POCO smartphones like the POCO X5 Pro. Separately, Xiaomi CEO Lu Weibing has implied that the company will kick off the Redmi K70 series soon, albeit without giving a timeframe at this stage. Based on current rumours, initial Redmi K70 models will debut later this month or early December in China, with the POCO F6 series expected to be their global counterparts.
