The Rewind Cassette Player aims to jump on the trend towards analog music, offering customers the chance to buy a modern cassette player that, unlike most cheaper alternatives, comes in an aluminum chassis with relatively sharp edges, similar to the original Sony Walkman TPS-L2.
On the top are buttons to control playback, as well as a color-coded button for recording. On the right side, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a microphone plug and the USB-C port, which can be used to charge the 2,000 mAh battery, are found next to the volume wheel. Up to twelve hours of music playback should be possible on one charge. The integrated amplifier outputs 2 x 2 mW at 32 ohms, which makes the Walkman primarily suitable for efficient in-ear monitors, but not for demanding over-ear headphones.
The player can play Type I to IV cassettes, promising a distortion of less than 0.3 percent, a speed that does not deviate more than 0.2 percent, a signal-to-noise ratio of 50 dB, and a frequency range from 30 Hz to 12.5 kHz. Since high-quality Type II cassettes can store frequencies up to around 16 kHz, the Rewind player is hardly suitable for hi-fi enthusiasts. Instead, the device aims to convince with convenience, for which Rewind installs a Bluetooth 5.1 chip for the wireless connection of headphones and speakers.
