LG releases new UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB gaming monitor after pre-launch showcases

LG has now released the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB in the US, a successor to last year's UltraGear OLED 45GR95QE (curr. $1,499 on Amazon). For reference, this also applies to the UltraGear OLED 45GS95QE that the company began selling earlier this month. Initially, it was unclear why LG released the UltraGear OLED 45GS95QE a few weeks before the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB, given that they were initially presented simultaneously.

However, it turns out that the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB does everything that the UltraGear OLED 45GR95QE does and more, but for the same price. Specifically, the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB utilises an identical 44.5-inch and 800R panel that outputs at 3,440 x 1,440 pixels, 240 Hz and 275 nits with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. Likewise, the monitor matches the UltraGear OLED 45GR95QE with 0.03 ms GtG response times, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC technologies to mitigate image tearing and 98.5% DCI-P3 colour space coverage.

The UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB builds on the UltraGear OLED 45GR95QE with 7 W stereo speakers, negating the need to use external audio equipment. Moreover, the former features a USB Type-C port, unlike the latter. As such, the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB can deliver USB and video connectivity over a single cable while also recharging a connected device at up to 65 W. Although the UltraGear OLED 45GS96QB is now orderable for $1,699.99 in the US, LG has not confirmed pricing or availability for other markets yet.
