Apple's entry-level tablet is on sale for 20% off at two major retailers.
Best Buy and Amazon are both selling the 10th Gen base iPad for $279, a $70 discount from its $349 MSRP. This is a 20% discount off the tablet. Amazon is selling the version with 256 GB of storage for $429 with the same $70 discount, although Best Buy is not. Users that want cellular connection can snag the 64 GB version at Amazon for $100, or $399.
The 10th Gen iPad (or iPad 10, as it's commonly known), is powered by Apple's A14 Bionic SoC, 4 GB of RAM, and comes with 64 GB of storage. This is the same chip found inside the iPhone 12 family and 2020 iPad Air. While these devices are now about five years old, the chip beating at their hearts is still adequate for most use cases, such as web browsing, content consumption, and simple office work.
The iPad 10 scored an 89% in our review. We highlighted its solid design and quality IPS display. This iPad generation was also the base tablet's transition to USB-C from Lightning, although the port operates at USB 2.0 speeds (480 Mbit/s, or roughly 60 MB/s). Keep in mind this is not a top-of-the-line tablet; it has a simple 60 Hz refresh rate and a relatively low amount of storage. Still, considering Apple's track record of long update cycles for its devices, the iPad 10 should remain relevant for a few more years at least.
