Asus has now released the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG in North America and the UK, less than a month after the monitor's official launch across the Eurozone. To recap, the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG carries a €1,049 retail price in Europe, which makes it about €300 cheaper than the ROG Swift PG27UCDM it has been offering since February (curr. $1,199.99 on Amazon).
Despite the price difference, the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG utilises the same Gen 4 QD-OLED panel as the more expensive ROG Swift PG27UCDM. In other words, the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG outputs natively at 4K (3,840 x 2,160) across its 27-inch panel while offering up to a 240 Hz refresh rate. As usual for QD-OLED backed monitors, the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG also offers 1,000 nits peak brightness when viewing HDR content and 0.03 ms GtG response times aided by AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Nvidia G-Sync and VESA AdaptiveSync technologies.
However, Asus distinguishes the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG from the ROG Swift PG27UCDM by including DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity instead of the newer DisplayPort 2.1. Consequently, the ROG Strix XG27UCDMG must use Display Stream Compression (DSC) to output at 4K and 240 Hz simultaneously. Nonetheless, the monitor still has a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports at its disposal, as well as a 3.5 mm jack, three USB Type-A ports and a USB Type-C connection that can provide up to 90 W to a connected device.
The ROG Strix XG27UCDMG is currently available from Best Buy in the US for $979.99. By contrast, Asus has priced the monitor at £939 in the UK. Please see Asus' website for more technical details.
