The Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U is Xiaomi's latest gaming monitor that leverages Mini LED backlights. For context, over a year has passed since the company released the Redmi Display G Pro 27 using the same panel technology. However, it took until September before Xiaomi offered the same monitor globally as the Monitor G Pro 27i during a simultaneous release alongside the cheaper G24i and G27Qi (curr. $189.99 on Amazon).
The Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U contains 1,152 Mini LED local dimming zones, just like its predecessor. While these helped the Redmi Display G Pro 27 achieve up to 1,000 nits peak brightness, its successor is rated to reach 1,600 nits while maintaining a VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification. On top of that, the Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U supports Dolby Vision HDR content where appropriate.
Xiaomi has also bumped the resolution from 1440p to 4K, although this correlates with a refresh rate reduction from 180 Hz to 160 Hz. To compensate, the Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U can drop its Fast IPS panel to 1080p, which then doubles its refresh rate to 320 Hz. Regardless of which frame rate and resolution you choose, the monitor should maintain 99% Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 colour space coverages.
The new monitor features DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connectivity too, as well as a pair of 5 W speakers and a two-port USB hub. Moreover, Xiaomi has pre-installed HyperOS 2 for the Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U to act as a Smart TV when needed. Xiaomi has not revealed launch pricing yet, nor whether the Redmi Monitor G Pro 27U will receive an international release.
