Samsung releases new Odyssey gaming monitors including 4K and 240 Hz OLED option
Samsung has now released three of the monitors it presented at the end of last month. To recap, the company unveiled numerous new models under its Odyssey and ViewFinity series. Although it shared specifications for these monitors, it elected against confirming pricing or availability.
Now, it has released the Odyssey G81SF, Odyssey 3D G90XF and Odyssey G91F in North America. Not only are the trio available from Samsung directly, but they are also available across multiple retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg. For reference, the Odyssey G81SF and Odyssey 3D G90XF are 27-inch monitors with 4K native resolutions. By contrast, the Odyssey G91F spans 49-inches with a 1440p (DQHD/5,120 x 1,440) resolution.
The trio leverage different display technologies too. While the Odyssey G81SF and Odyssey 3D G90XF feature OLED and IPS panels, respectively, the Odyssey G91F features a VA panel. On top of that, Odyssey G81SF offers a 240 Hz refresh rate, which should deliver a much smoother experience than the 165 Hz or 144 Hz that the Odyssey G90XF and Odyssey G91F provide. Just as importantly, the latter also offers a passive 3D viewing experience that it achieves via built-in eye tracking technology.
At the time of writing, the Odyssey G91F is the cheapest of the three at $999.99. Next up is the Odyssey G81SF, which retails for $1,299.99. Finally, the Odyssey 3D G90XF comes in at $1,999.99. Please see Samsung’s website for full technical details about all three monitors.
