Deal | Samsung’s already affordable 180 Hz OLED gaming monitor gets major discount and free Resident Evil Requiem to boot

Released back in October of last year, the Odyssey OLED G5 (G50SF) is meant to be the a more affordable entryway into OLED gaming. The 27-inch monitor was launched at a relatively more digestible $550 price tag, it is currently listed with a significant discount, as well as a free copy of Resident Evil Requiem, making it even better value. Yes, there are brighter and higher refresh rate options in the Odyssey OLED series but they are all significantly more expensive.

The 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor features a 2,560x1,440 resolution, 180 Hz refresh rate, and 0.03 ms response time. It has what Samsung calls an anti-reflection film that reduces glare in brightly lit environments. That likely affects the overall brightness which is rated at just 200 nits. Samsung does state the Odyssey OLED G5 has HDR10 support but at that brightness, it’s not going to be the best HDR experience. The colors and black levels, however, are pretty great thanks to the OLED panel and 99% coverage of DCI color space.

To protect that OLED, the G5 (G50SF) comes with logo and taskbar detection, thermal modulation system, and screen saver options. There is also support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync for a tear free gaming experience. Connectivity options include a DisplayPort 1.2, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a headphone jack. The included stand only has tilt adjustment but the monitor can be mounted on an arm with VESA 100x100 compatibility.

The discounted price also includes a free copy of Resident Evil Requiem that costs $70 so that’s a total of $270 in savings.
