TCL launches ultra-thin OLED gaming monitor with striking design and 240 Hz refresh rate at 4K

Most high-end gaming monitors sport designs which are unapologetically flashy. The newly announced TCL 32X3A, however, is not amongst those. With a rather classy ultra-thin design, the 32-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor promises great picture quality and 240 Hz refresh rate at 4K.

Courtesy of dual-mode functionality, gamers who prioritize refresh rate over fidelity can also switch to 1080p and unlock 480 Hz refresh rate, making it well-suited for high-end competitive gaming. The OLED+ panel feature multi-layer technology, with a claimed 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
The company also claims the utilization of a "matrix" pixel arrangement which should improve text clarity, but did not share any further details. At 31.5-inches, the TCL 32X3A gaming monitor sports a pixel density of around 140 PPI, which is alright, but nothing quite worth writing home about. Folks who prioritize text clarity over anything else will likely be better off with a higher-res panel.
Being an OLED, the TCL 32X3A will most certainly boast all of the hallmark benefits of the technology. In simpler terms, true blacks, near-instant response time, and near-infinite contrast ratio should all be possible on the gaming monitor.
As mentioned earlier, the monitor features an ultra-thin design that is quite unique for the category. At its thinnest areas, the monitor is just 6.4 mm or 0.25 inches thick. Of course, the area around the stand is a lot thicker, at around 35.8 mm or 1.4 inches. As of this writing, it is unclear whether or not the gaming monitor will feature ergonomic adjustments beyond tilt settings.
A Bang & Olufsen speaker system will also be housed towards the bottom of the stand, but the exact details of the system in terms of speaker count and wattage remain unclear. The I/O on offer is quite decent, and has been detailed below:
- DisplayPort 2.1
- Dual HDMI 2.1
- USB-C (90W PD)
- Dual USB-A, single USB-B
The 31.5-inch TCL 32X3A 4K OLED gaming monitor is priced at 5,999 Yuan in China, which is roughly equivalent to $871. An international launch is not in sight for now, but is far from unlikely considering TCL's global presence. Folks who need a similarly specced gaming monitor sooner can check out the Asus ROG Swift PG32UCDP, currently available for $1,299 on Amazon.
