Asus has now released the refreshed version of the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG in the US. Officially called the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen 2 or XG27AQDMGR, this new model introduces three major upgrades over its predecessor, headlined by an improved glossy panel.

The Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen 2 was announced back in August as a refreshed model of the XG27AQDMG, a 27-inch 1440p WOLED gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate and glossy coating. The updated model still comes with the same 3rd-gen WOLED panel, down to the resolution and refresh rate, but now features an improved glossy coating, among other upgrades.

Also called the XG27AQDMGR, the new model is now available to purchase on Amazon for $649, $50 cheaper than the older XG27AQDMG before discounts. That said, the ROG Strix XG27AQDMG is also available via Amazon, currently discounted to $587.99.

TrueBlack Glossy OLED panel and Neo Proximity Sensor are the main upgrades

While most OLED monitors coming out in 2026 feature new panel upgrades like Tandem OLED and true RGB subpixel layout, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen2 is still based on the older 3rd-gen WOLED panel. That means it covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and offers up to 1,300 nits peak brightness, complemented by DisplayHDR 400 True Black for excellent contrast. That said, the new model still brings distinct upgrades that may be worth upgrading.

For most users, the upgraded surface coating is the biggest highlight here, especially for those with bright rooms. The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen2 now features the new TrueBlack Glossy coating, which is said to maintain deeper blacks even in well-lit rooms and reduce reflections by up to 38% compared to the previous model. In addition, Asus has added a new proximity sensor that switches the display to a black screen when the user steps away to help prevent burn-in.

Finally, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen2 comes with a more compact stand and now features HDMI 2.1 ports, upgraded from HDMI 2.0. Users also get a DisplayPort 1.4, headphone jack, and USB hub. In the US, the new ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen2 (XG27AQDMGR) is now available on Amazon. It's also listed on the Asus store but currently marked out of stock.
