There’s a lot going on in the Infinity Nikki world. The wildly popular free-to-play game offers plenty of gameplay through exploration, questing, gathering, and creating stunning outfits for fashion competitions. Now, with the version 1.5 update, Paperback/Infold is adding something completely new to the game: co-op mode.
Online multiplayer has been teased by the game’s creative team basically since the game was announced, but finally it’s here for everyone to enjoy!
Playing with your bestie will be super fun and adorable, thanks to a handful of features included in co-op mode. First and foremost, you can hold hands as you adventure, pulling your favorite person towards new excitement. Plus, the game is offering players a tandem bicycle, so you can recreate that scene from Barbie. Oh, and get around the world much faster together, of course. All you have to do is rent it out, like with standard Whim cycles, through the Free Travel Company.
There’s even a special co-op item in the Starlit Shop. The Starwish Seesaw has pink clouds for seats and a pastel rainbow as the central balance. All of these co-op accessories are just perfect for taking wonderful photos together!
You’ll be able to meet up with your gaming partner in one of two ways: through an invite or through the Bat signal. Okay, so it’s actually called a “Starlit Projection”, but it’s a big light that tells your friends to come join your world if they aren’t too busy. It sounds pretty and awesome, making it a perfect fit for Infinity Nikki.
Once you’ve entered co-op mode, you’ll be able to chat freely. In certain public areas, such as the Dream Star Isles and Serenity Island, you can also chat with others by sitting next to them. It’s unclear how well this will work or how useful it will be, given the fact that most PC players use Discord or Steam to chat while gaming. Regardless, it is a nice touch, especially for mobile gamers.
You can do basically anything with your co-op partner, including gathering, fishing, hunting for treasure chests, uncovering Whimstars, and more. Additionally, new daily tasks called Starlit Moments will give you and your bestie something to do in Miraland every day. Plus, Starlit Pursuit has been introduced as a new weekly task for co-op players.
Even if you finish those bonus tasks, some existing challenges will be available to tackle together. Mini-games like Little Big Whimstar, Chasing Whimstars, and Treasure Chest Challenges will support co-op and offer Whimstars.
No matter what activities you choose to do with your Infinity Nikki friends, you’ll share the rewards you earn. Each person will bring everything that gets collected back to their own version of Miraland.
The newest update to Infinity Nikki goes live at 11 PM EST on April 28.
