Nintendo hopes the boosted Switch 2 specs will entice skeptical multi-platform gamers to purchase the console. With a more powerful GPU, the system now accommodates demanding third-party titles like Cyberpunk 2077. Although the game debuted in 2020, the futuristic action RPG still taxes PCs. Following the Nintendo Direct, information about pricing and how the Switch 2 game performs has materialized.
On the June 5th Switch 2 release date, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will arrive in physical and digital forms. This version includes the 2023 Phantom Liberty expansion released on the PC and competing consoles. While the Nintendo Direct didn't reveal a price, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will cost $69.99.
The CD Projekt Red VP of Business Jan Rosner just confirmed the storage requirements for the Switch 2 game. It will ship on a hefty 64GB game card, but it won't require additional downloads to play, unlike other titles. Still, with the Switch 2 specs including 256GB of storage, gamers may require additional microSD Express cards. Buyers will need these pricier NVMe SSDs, as older versions used with the original Switch are incompatible.
Journalist Jason Schreier revealed that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will run at 40fps on the Switch 2. The frame rates were measured in the Switch 2 performance mode. Gamers also have some first-hand accounts of gameplay to digest. Rollin Bishop of Games Radar praised the stable performance, even if the console can't match the visual quality of beefier systems.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is only one of many incoming third-party Switch 2 games. The Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition only has a general 2025 release date but will bundle the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and new bonus items. Nintendo fans can also finally experience sports titles like Madden NFL 25, which is unavailable for the original Switch.
