The Duskbloods is the latest project by FromSoftware and it takes a somewhat different approach compared to the other famous titles from the studio. Not only is it a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, it is also an online multiplayer game. Ever since the reveal at the Nintendo Direct event on April 2, fans have been wondering if the company has switched direction from making dedicated singleplayer games, but the president of the studio has now clarified that is not the case.
Sharing details about the upcoming game in the Nintendo Creator’s Voice Blog, Hidetaka Miyazaki stated that even though The Duskbloods is an online multiplayer, it is not an indication of a new company direction. “As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn’t mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward,” Miyazaki said.
He added that just like the Switch 2 version of Elden Ring, which is a singleplayer-focused game, the team will continue to work on projects that are in line with its traditional style. FromSoftware is the studio behind the highly popular games such as the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Armored Core series, and more.
The Duskbloods is a PvPvE online multiplayer-focused game at its core. There are over 12 characters, known as Bloodsworn, and they are similar to vampires as they have acquired super-human abilities through some special blood. The Bloodsworn are competing for something known as “First Blood” which flows in an event known as the “Twilight of Humanity.”
The Duskbloods is releasing next year exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
