FromSoftware's The Duskbloods and Elden Ring Switch 2 release dates still expected in 2026

Nintendo fans haven’t heard much recently about a pair of anticipated FromSoftware games. Both the multiplayer-focused The Duskbloods and Elden Ring Switch 2 port surfaced in April 2025. The latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase failed to feature either title. However, the studio’s parent company still anticipates 2026 release dates for the projects.
A vague but welcome update
Kadokawa included an update in its Q3 Fiscal Year 2026 report. When discussing declining operating profits compared to the previous year, it referenced the Switch 2 games. The Duskbloods and Elden Ring Tarnished Edition are “both slated for 2026 release.”
Realizing investors would have more questions, the company addressed both titles in an FAQ. Unfortunately, it didn’t narrow down arrival times for the FromSoftware efforts. It also declined to offer sales projections, though Nintendo’s handheld could produce a financial boost.
The Duskbloods is a gothic-themed Switch 2 exclusive that blends PvP and PvE online action. The 8-player matches are a departure from the developer's usual souls-like adventures. Even so, many details remain cloudy, with only the initial trailer providing clues.
Might Elden Ring Tarnished Edition still be cancelled?
Meanwhile, the Elden Ring Switch 2 port was set to debut sometime in 2025. Initial impressions at Gamescom raised doubts that it would be properly optimized for the console. Due to these performance hiccups, in October, gamers learned its release date had been pushed to 2026. When it finally ships, buyers find the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion bundled.
Switch 2 specs welcome resource-intensive games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin's Creed Shadows. Yet even with more tools available, some developers have struggled with the transition. The Elden Ring engine does not support DLSS upscaling, which could be a factor. The Kadokawa earnings report confirms that, at least for now, it hasn’t met the same fate as the indefinitely delayed Borderlands 4.
Other fans are wondering when they will finally see more footage from The Duskbloods. The February 5th Nintendo Direct showcased third-party titles, but FromSoftware was conspicuously absent. Another rumored broadcast late in the month or in March may be worth paying attention to.
