Silent Hill: Townfall gets a new trailer, revealing first-person gameplay, new radio and no Xbox release

Sony yesterday dropped a boatload of new information about the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall.
Possibly most controversial is the shift from 3rd-person to first-person perspectives, a shift last seen in Resident Evil games when the series rebooted with Resident Evil 7 and offered as an option in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem.
The latest iteration also moves away from the town that gave the series its name, instead being set in a town called St. Amelia. This new location seems to be an island, or at least only accessible by water, judging by the ferry times presented in the trailer.
Silent Hill's iconic radio has also been redesigned, replaced instead with an 80s-style CRTV. While this still offers similar functionality to the scratchy static that indicates nearby enemies in earlier games, the CRTV also allows players to "see" through the environment, locating nearby threats and unveiling more of the story from signals received around the town.

One of the biggest criticisms of Silent Hill: F, despite receiving rave reviews, was its combat. Although the two don't directly compare, given the shift in perspective, Silent Hill: Townfall appears to offer a range of both melee and ranged weapons, while highlighting stealth and simply running for your life as viable gameplay options.
The story setting will obviously differ from that of the Silent Hill 2 remake, and Silent Hill: F, yet still retain the feeling of the Silent Hill games fans are familiar with, providing a "rich narrative and challenging puzzles".
There isn't a release date for Silent Hill: Townfall for PlayStation 5 (available on Amazon), or PC. However, the game can already be wishlisted on the PlayStation store, which hopefully means news of a release date isn't too far away. That being said, Xbox users will be left out in the cold, further highlighting that Xbox might be on its last legs.
