According to a new report, Apple may finally be joining its peers by moving away from 60 Hz displays across its non-Pro devices. While the iPhone 17 may land next year with a 120 Hz panel, future iPad Air, iMac and Studio Display releases are said to offer a different refresh rate.

Apple continues to distinguish its Pro and non-Pro devices in more ways than many of its peers. For instance, while Google, Samsung and Xiaomi offer 90 Hz or 120 Hz displays across their mobile product stacks, 60 Hz remains the peak refresh rate for all non-Pro Apple devices, including the pricey 24-inch iMac (curr. $1,299 on Amazon).

Reportedly, 120 Hz panels will finally make their way to non-Pro iPhones next year with the advent of the iPhone 17 series, though. Moreover, a new rumour suggests that faster panel technology could soon grace at least three other future Apple products. Please note that none of this is guaranteed just yet. To that end, 9to5Mac stresses that the Upgrade podcast references an anonymous source.

Allegedly, Apple plans to offer 90 Hz displays across next-generation versions of the iPad Air, 24-inch iMac and even the Studio Display. Based on previous reports, Apple will refresh the iPad Air early next year. By contrast, it remains to be seen when it will update the Studio Display or the 24-inch iMac, particularly given that the Apple M4 version has not started shipping yet.
