Apple has finally unveiled its new iMac with latest Apple Silicon. It comes with a 24-inch 4.5K "Nano-Texture Display" that supposedly reduces glare. Its main upgrade, of course, is the new Apple M4 chip. However, this appears to be a lower-binned variant with 8 CPU and GPU cores apiece. That said, there's a version with a 10-core CPU/GPU combo available for an extra price.
Apple claims this M4 version is up to 1.7x faster than an Apple M1. On the plus, side, the new Apple iMac now comes with a minimum of 16 GB RAM accompanied by 256 GB of storage. You can expand the former up to 32 GB and the latter to 2 TB. The memory increase is essential for Apple Intelligence to function, as it is included out of the box with macOS Sequoia.
Other notable features include a 12 MP front-facing camera, four Thunderbolt 4.0 ports with support for two 6K external displays, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The absence of Wi-Fi 7 is disappointing, but not surprising. Apple sells the new iMac in seven colours: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver. You can pre-order it now starting at $1,299. The 10-core version will set you back by $1,499. General sales will commence on November 8.
