The OneXPlayer X1 has been on the market for a while now, having initially debuted last year as one of the first Intel Meteor Lake-powered gaming handhelds. Only a few months passed before One-Netbook refreshed its 10.95-inch device with the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, which it introduced alongside a smaller X1 Mini variant with the same APU.
While the latter remains available, it has since been superseded by the more powerful Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which One-Netbook also sells in the smaller OneXFly F1 Pro (curr. $1,539.99 on Amazon). Re-branded as the OneXPlayer X1 Pro, the device fared well when we reviewed it last month.
Now, Minixpc has started selling another new option, which comes exclusively in an Evangelion-themed red edition for the time being. Described as a strictly limited edition, the new option currently starts at $1,649.99 with 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage before adding a case or controller connectors.
Typically, One-Netbook's Evangelion-themed refreshes end at a custom theme or more memory. This time around, the company has used the limited edition model to add the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, which it already offers inside the OneXPlayer G1. Please note, all other areas of the existing OneXPlayer X1 Pro remain unchanged, besides the change of USB4 to Thunderbolt 4 ports.
According to our benchmarks, the Core Ultra 7 255H and Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 are evenly matched when it comes to CPU performance. The same is the case between the Arc 140T and the Radeon 890M, although this is often game-dependent. Conversely, the Arc 140T easily surpasses the Radeon 890M in non-game benchmarks. Currently, the OneXPlayer X1 Pro Eva Asuka Edition should start shipping between April 15 and April 30 at the latest.
