Last summer, Casio quietly released one of its more low-key but surprisingly sought-after collaborations: the G-5600SRF-1JR, made in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation. It was subtle, clean, and sold out in under two months.
A new leak now confirms that Casio is bringing the collab back for 2025 - and it’s sticking with the same base model, the G-5600UE. The 5600UE series is known for being one of Casio’s most stripped-down but capable squares. Solar-powered, multi-band 6, compact, and refreshingly no-nonsense - it’s the kind of G-Shock that does its job without shouting about it.
Details on the design are still under wraps, but the leak suggests we’ll see a shift to a brighter color palette this year. The 2024 model used a matte speckled resin shell that mimicked recycled plastic, an aesthetic and material choice that tied back to the Surfrider Foundation’s marine conservation mission. It even had a wave motif around the screen and a tiny Surfrider logo on the face.
For this upcoming 2025 release, it’s highly likely that Casio will continue with recycled or ocean-friendly materials again. The model will almost certainly retain its low-profile look, but the mention of "summer colors" in the leaked info (via Great G-Shock World) could mean we’ll finally get a version that is more playful than moody, to say the least.
As for pricing, the last one retailed for around ¥19,800 (~$130 USD), so we should expect something in the same ballpark. There's no official launch date yet, but with the leak surfacing now, a June or July release would line up well with the seasonal theming. That makes two new upcoming summer models that have been leaked now - the first one being the GBX-100 series watch.
No hype machine here - just a clean, understated G-Shock square getting another collab. And if last year was anything to go by, it won’t stay on shelves for long.
