The G-Shock GBX-100 lineup from Casio is getting a brand-new variant soon, and this one’s a little more beach-friendly, visually speaking at least. A new model of the surf-focused digital watch is set to arrive this summer featuring a skeleton-style case, based on information from popular Japanese blog Great G-Shock World.
The GBX-100 has always been marketed as a surfer’s tool, with features like tide graphs, moon data, and sunrise/sunset times pulled via Bluetooth from a database of over 3,000 coastal locations. It uses a high-contrast MIP LCD screen for higher visibility in bright environments and includes typical G-Lide perks like 20-bar water resistance and a tough resin case.
Reports state that the upcoming version won't overhaul the internals - it will still run the same tide-tracking layout and likely stick with the same GBX-100TT-2JF base. Instead, it will swap out the usual solid tones for a transparent case and strap, something G-Shock typically saves for limited summer runs like the recently launched GA-2100BM series. The design should appeal to seasonal buyers who want something clean, casual, and a little different from the solid two-tone colorways the line is better known for.
For similar models, the current price in Japan is around ¥27,500 (~$190), and while international release details haven’t been confirmed yet, G-Shock tends to roll these models out in wider regions within weeks of a Japan debut. As of now, the release window is set for June.
More details should surface once Casio makes it official.
