Speaking on an episode of the official Xbox Podcast, Craig Duncan revealed that although they announced previously that the release date for the game will be in 2025, they now have to give Fable more time
and it's going to ship in 2026 now
.
While acknowledging that the news of the delay may be disappointing, Duncan reassures fans that it is worth the wait
. The new Fable game is being developed by the UK game studio, Playgrounds, known for the popular Forza Horizon racing game series.

The postponement of Fable is one of a handful of games that have had their release dates moved forward. In early January, Ubisoft announced that its next AAA game, Assassin's Creed Shadows which was set for a February 2025 release will now be released on the 20th of March. The game was originally supposed to launch in November 2024.
The upcoming Fable game is a reboot of the series following the release of Fable 3 back in 2010. There are rumors that the new Fable game will not be exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox Series X (available on Amazon for $498) and Xbox Series S consoles but will also be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
