A new RPG turns dying into a tactical feature and Steam users seem to love it. Just days after its release, the demo of The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy has already garnered over 700 reviews, boasting an impressive 96% positive rating.

In The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy, players step into the shoes of Takumi Sumino, a teenager whose town has been overrun by monsters. A mysterious force transports him to the Academy of Last Defense, where he and 14 other students must hold the school against relentless monster attacks for 100 days. But it's not just survival that counts here - dying is part of the strategy.

The game blends turn-based strategy with visual novel elements, requiring players to position their pieces strategically on a chessboard-like battlefield. What makes it unique is that dying isn’t just a setback, it’s a tactical tool. Defeated characters unleash powerful final attacks and return in later waves, forcing players to decide who to protect and who to sacrifice for maximum advantage. Between battles, visual novel segments explore character relationships, with every choice shaping both the story and available combat strategies.

The demo for The Hundred Line has been available on Steam since February 18 and has been met with an „Overwhelmingly Positive“ response. The tactical RPG has already received over 700 reviews, with 96% being positive. The full release is set for April 23 on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch. The game will be available in a standard edition for around $60 and a deluxe edition for approximately $70.
