Warner Bros. Games will no longer release the Wonder Woman game that has been in development since it was first announced in 2021. It is also shutting down three of its games studios including Monolith and Player First Games which it purchased just last July.

The Wonder Woman game that was announced to be in development back in 2021 will not actually see the light of day. What's worse is that Warner Bros. Games is also shutting down Monolith Productions, the studio that was developing the game, as well as two others.

First announced at The Game Awards in 2021, the video game based on the popular DC character was being developed by Monolith Productions, the studio behind Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. It would be a single player third-person video game that would feature the famed, Nemesis System.

In a staff memo, JB Perrette, head of games and streaming at Warner Bros. is quoted to have said the quality of too many of our new releases has really missed the mark and we need to make some substantial changes to our portfolio/team structure if we are to commit the necessary resources to get back to a ‘fewer but bigger franchises’ strategy.

Last year, Warner Bros. Games released Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, MultiVersus, and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. All three games did poorly, and Warner Bros. has even announced it will shut down MultiVersus on May 30, 2025.

Warner Bros. has also announced that it is shutting down three game studios. In addition to the Washington-based Monolith Productions, it is also closing down Player First Games which it acquired last July and was the developer of MultiVersus, and Warner Bros. Games San Diego, a mobile games studio that was established in 2019.
