A new rumor suggests Sony may be working on an upgraded version of the PlayStation Portal. While nothing is confirmed yet, the rumor points to an OLED display with a high refresh rate.

A new rumor suggests Sony may be planning a hardware refresh for its handheld remote play device, the PlayStation Portal. According to a post shared by Zuby_Tech on X, the company is reportedly working on an updated version featuring an OLED display.

The leak also claims that the new screen would support a 120Hz refresh rate. Zuby_Tech refers to this rumored upgrade as the PlayStation Portal Pro, though Sony has not confirmed the name or the device itself.

If true, an OLED panel would be a major upgrade over the current LCD screen. OLED displays are known for deeper blacks, better contrast, and more vibrant colors, which could significantly improve image quality when streaming PS5 games.

The timing of this rumor is interesting, as the PlayStation Portal recently received one of its biggest updates since launch. Sony added native cloud streaming support for PlayStation Plus Premium members, allowing users to stream select PS5 games directly without needing a console powered on at home.

The PlayStation Portal has always appeared to be part of Sony’s long-term ecosystem strategy rather than a short-lived experiment. Sony also refreshed the device last year by introducing a new color option as part of its Midnight Black Collection. For now, the OLED model remains a rumor. There are also no leaks regarding its release window or pricing.
