8BitDo 64 released as N64 inspired controller with Hall effect joystick for $39.99
8BitDo has joined Analogue in opening pre-orders today for its first Nintendo 64 (N64) inspired product. For reference, while Analogue teased the 8BitDo 64 over a year ago, 8BitDo waited until last week before announcing its controller in full. Incidentally, the launch of the 8BitDo 64 coincides with an equivalent debut for Analogue's long-awaited N64 FPGA console.
In short, the 8BitDo 64 does not look anything like the original Nintendo 64 controller. Instead, the controller is closer in design to the Switch Pro controller but with a few layout tweaks. Specifically, the 8BitDo 64 has a single Hall effect joystick that sits in its top left-hand corner.

Moreover, the controller has C-buttons on its opposite side, which are adjacent to B and A buttons. Meanwhile, new pictures confirm that 8BitDo has installed two Z buttons in place of L2 and R2 triggers. Unfortunately, the standard layout also means that the 8BitDo 64 lacks support for external Memory Pak and Transfer Pak accessories.
Currently, it seems that 8BitDo only ever stocked the white version, which still remains orderable on Amazon US for $39.99 with a release date set for March 19, 2025. By contrast, while Amazon's listing implies that the black model is now sold out, it seems as though it was never actually available. Added to that, 8BitDo has not confirmed pricing or availability for other markets yet like Canada, the Eurozone or the UK.
