Snapdragon 8 Elite powered Realme GT 7 Pro effortlessly plays AAA game at 60 FPS
While modern-day smartphones can play AAA games with relative ease (and a ton of compromises), it still hasn't left the proof of concept stage, as confirmed by lackluster sales on iPhones. The Snapdragon 8 Elite powered Realme GT 7 Pro pulled off an impressive feat by running an older, albeit demanding title at respectable frame rates.
Ice Universe posted a video (likely sourced from Weibo) of the phone playing Assassin's Creed Black Flag at a steady 60 FPS. While its internal resolution and settings are unknown, it is an impressive feat for a smartphone SoC. Its GPU usage was pegged at 70%, meaning there was still some performance left on the table despite the fact that some performance was certainly lost in the x86-Arm translation.
Of course, Assassin's Creed Black Flag is an eleven-year-old game and not particularly demanding. Still, recent leaks suggested the Snapdragon 8 Elite's Adreno 830 outperformed its predecessor by 40%. The raw performance increase, combined with the GPU's DLSS Frame Generation-like feature, should let gamers play newer, more demanding titles on their phones.
