The 6.66-inch display diagonal of the Galaxy S26+ is not the only feature that is strongly reminscient of its predecessor, according to a report published today, January 13, 2026, by South Korean trade publication TheElec. Given the short time available, the development of this year's Galaxy S26 Plus, which is being launched very late as a replacement for the Galaxy S26 Edge that was canceled at the last minute, will be a modest upgrade to the Galaxy S25+, as industry insiders from the supply chain emphasize.
Accordingly, the Plus model, which will enter mass production this month, is expected to be a near-copy of its predecessor with few minor changes. These changes likely include the adapted camera design with a camera bump instead of camera rings, the faster processor (the Exynos 2600 in South Korea and possibly internationally, or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US), and new software and Galaxy AI features.
One constant will likely be the AMOLED panel, which will be carried over 1:1 from the Galaxy S25+, in contrast to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, where a new M14 panel is expected, or the Galaxy S26, whose display is expected to grow from 6.17 inches to 6.27 inches. According to reports, Samsung is betting on a huge success for the Galaxy S26 Ultra at its launch at the end of February and is producing 3.6 million units this month, compared to only 700,000 for the Galaxy S26 and 600,000 for the Galaxy S26+. A Galaxy Unpacked event is now almost certain for February 25, 2026, but availability is not expected until March 11, at least in Europe.
