Keen observers have known for months now that Samsung will exclusively increase the charging speed to 60 watts for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the first time in years. Whether this will actually translate into shorter charging times in practice has been revealed by a purportedly official test result from Samsung's labs. We also take a look at early Galaxy S26 accessories.

The successor to the Galaxy S25 Ultra will charge faster than its predecessors for the first time in years, as Chinese leaker Ice Universe has been highligting for months. At 60 watts instead of a maximum of 45 watts, the Galaxy S26 Ultra should theoretically charge a third faster, but these improvements are never perfectly linear. Our Galaxy S25 Ultra review revealed that even with the 45-watt maximum limit unchanged, charging times were slightly reduced compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Specifically, we found that a full charge takes 56 minutes, 80% in 32 minutes, and 50% in 17 minutes. Now, the aforementioned leaker has shared initial test results from Samsung's labs for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, whose battery apparently charges to 75% in 30 minutes. Ice cautions that this figure comes from controlled conditions; various factors can lead to higher or lower results in reality.

Accessory cases and more already in production

Compared to our test results for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the charging speed seems to change very little with the 60-watt charger, even though earlier leaks indicated that the 60 watts would at least be nearly fully reached, which wasn't always the case with the 45-watt charger in the past. The battery size is expected to remain the same at 5,000 mAh, so a direct comparison between the two Galaxy flagships will likely be quite interesting when the Galaxy S26 Ultra hits the market after the delayed Galaxy Unpacked event in March. The accessory industry is already busy producing, as recent examples of camera screen protectors and protective cases demonstrate.
